Temperature

One of my college classes was a "Field Experience" class which meant it was to take place in the field. There was no classroom time or reading material. The objective was to get us familiar with an intern position while performing some type of study. I was required to perform my study at an approved location that would require guidance and periodic reports from a supervisor that were submitted to my college instruction.

Since I was working in a wetland, I thought that would be the perfect location to perform my study. My supervisor would be the person who monitored and submitted my progress to the instructor.

I wanted to conduct a study on bat box temperatures but in two different scenarios.

Study One

The first study was to determine internal box temperatures for different color boxes. This would be a light, moderate and dark color box. I built three boxes exactly the same except for different colors. Each box contained a data logger and recorded the the temperature every hour during a 24 hour period for 3 weeks. I used excel to put the data together and make my conclusions on the temperature during a 24 hour period and how the temperatures differ between box colors. I also determined how the rate of temperatures changed between each color as external temperatures changed.

Study Two

The second part of the study was to check internal temperatures between chambers. A data logger was place in each chamber of a four chamber bat box which recorded the the temperature every hour during a 24 hour period for 3 weeks. I used excel to put the data together and make my conclusions on the temperature during a 24 hour period and how the temperatures differ between each chamber. I also determined how the rate of temperatures changed between each chamber as external temperatures changed.
