Created an Ohio and world map using ArcGIS to represent sample sites associated with the Wilma H. Schiermeier Olentangy River WetlandResearch Park. Excel worksheets were created for each map with coordinates, names and other relevant information. The excel worksheets were imported into ArcMap followed by creating shapefiles. The map shows points of each sample sites along with site names. See samples below.
Document hydrology in two wetlands, pond and a swale. I also record water inlet sprouts and remove debris from all outlets.
Designed a PowerPoint presentation that reflects 14 Ohio wetlands. Conducted internet research on wetlands to gather attractions and facts of each wetland. Created maps showing location of wetland in Ohio for each slide.
Conducted an insect emergence project over summer involving 18 traps. Each week the traps were checked for insects that exited the water and caught in traps. Insects were placed in alcohol filed test tubes, labeled and stored for future testing to determine insect species in the wetlands.
Performed tours of the wetlands to schools, churches and other organizations to help educate others on the wetlands, how it works and an understanding of current projects performed at the wetlands.
Perform tasks involving GIS, hydrology monitoring, restoration & construction projects, construct research testing projects, computer programs such as PowerPoint and Excel and other tasks needed completed.Project Photos
